Swedish progressive metal supergroup SOEN returns to Bulgaria for a concert at Joy Station Club in Sofia on October 16th, 2024. After two nearly sold-out shows in 2019 and 2022, Sofia is again on the band’s tour named Memorial, after the title of SOEN‘s sixth album, which was released just 2 months ago.
The Swedes will arrive with at least one support band, guests to be announced in due course.
Tickets for the show are on sale now at EPAY.GO. Early Bird tickets cost 40 BGN, when they are sold out the price will go up to 50 BGN.
SOEN were originally formed in 2004 by Martin Lopez (Ex-Opeth & Ex-Amon Amarth) and Kim Platbarzdis, but the band officially launched in 2010 when vocalist Joel Ekelöf (Willowtree) joined. A few months later, bassist Steve Di Giorgio (ex-Death, Testament) joined. Soen’s drummer and founder Martin Lopez himself describes Soen’s music as “melodic, heavy and complex”, and music media and fans find obvious associations with Tool and Opeth in the structure of the band’s songs and recordings.
Many of the ideas encompassing the themes of SOEN‘s six albums examine through a philosophical perspective the analysis of self and society, life and death, self-discovery, and the personal emotional journey. The compositions rely on poetics with subtly designed chaos and address issues of contemporary society unfolded in conceptual expressionism.
SOEN now features Cody Ford – guitar, Lars Åhlund – keyboards and guitar, Joel Ekelöf – vocals, Martin Lopez – drums and percussion; Oleksii ‘Zlatoyar’ Kobel – bass.
